About Us

After spending several years as professional musicians, Mike and Jecoliah Chien started GMT in 2022 to share their network of artists who are passionate about pedagogy. Mike and his brother Mark started taking violin at North Street School, and very soon required traveling to NYC each weekend to find the quality instruction they needed. We offer this quality here, in Greenwich and its surrounding areas.

We love that so many schools here teach music as part of their curriculum. Finding healthy communities our kids enjoy and are proud to be a part of is critical for them to chase their passions, so as teachers, we aim to build foundations of technique and musical knowledge with the intention of introducing them to these communities as soon as possible. The well-rounded musical experience of combining personal instruction with quality orchestra and chamber groups provide a wealth of learning opportunities and connections with peers that is so special.

The intentions behind music lessons are sometimes different, and that’s ok! Our students range from kindergarteners exploring the instrument for the first time, to committed seniors sending recordings to help boost their college applications. Whatever the purpose, our teachers enjoy every step of the process.
